MIA - Blog Post

Sorry, I got distracted by editing my book and other life things and haven't had a chance to write for this week's blog post. Editing will be done soon, just on Chapter 40 today, the last chapter, and then back to regular things. Ugh, so many apologies.

Inside the Beltway (Four Main Characters)

Four friends Darrell, Spencer, Bobby, and Triston are living in the D.C. area trying to make a living, make careers, and find boyfriends, hookups, and maybe a few casual sex encounters.

Darrell dropped out to join the Army where he became a linguist. He was kicked out after it was discovered he was openly gay. He struggles with his identity as a gay, black man. Darrell and Spencer know each other from college. He finds comfort in living in cramped quarters with the other guys, goes to AA regularly.

Spencer graduated from college and held several internships until he landed a job with a government consultant group. He ascended quickly from mailroom to consultant but has reached a plateau in his career and needs a horizontal change. Single, but looking to get married to the man of his dreams, have a few children and retire into comfort.

Bobby, a second generation South Korean in the United States, comes from the Los Angeles/Hollywood area where he attended college while living with his parents. It was during that time that he came to terms with his sexual identity and began to obsess about fitness and his body. He traveled to D.C. for an adventure away from his family. He works part-time as a personal trainer under the table and at department stores.

Triston is an underachiever who majored in Philosophy at college and barely passed his courses. He is both skeptical and open minded. He works at an adult store selling sex toys, movies, and other forms of entertainment. He co-hosts a local munch for kinky people.

Inside the Beltway (Minor Characters)

Walter - Triston’s former boyfriend, the brat, 18 and a Freshman in college he is interested in experimentation and wish fulfillment.

Vincent - Triston's new boyfriend,

Cheryl - Triston's coworker at the adult store where she also works as a sex educator

Josh - just out of an abusive relationship and has moved in with Spencer who has developed a crush on him.

Paul - Josh's abusive, ex-boyfriend,

Dennis- Bobby’s new boyfriend,

Chad- straight cop, lives in the same building as Darrell, Triston, and Bobby but has become friends with Spencer after nearly arresting him.
